Values

These core values lie at the heart of the ministry of Friends Church.  Like the Apostle Paul we confess "I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be." (phil 3:12 NLT)  We at Friends Church are simply "working toward that day when we will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved us for and wants us to be."

 The Journey to Shalom

The journey to shalom is the journey to peace and wholeness. In a world of broken families, broken relationships, and broken dreams Christ remains the only way to find true wholeness. We are the bearers of “good news which is for all people.” Christ offers the way to heal our brokenness by putting together the broken pieces of people’s lives into something new again.  Friends Church is committed to engaging the world in the midst of its brokenness and sharing the journey to shalom. This means fostering an environment where broken people are welcomed, encouraged and embraced. The church is to be a “safe” place where the broken find healing in the heart of Christ. Our fundamental message of holiness must be married to a journey to wholeness as we go into all the world.

  Biblical Dependency

God’s Word remains the life blood of all those who believe. Through the scriptures we find the owners manual for life and living. Its principles, teachings, promises, and commands form the foundation upon which real life is built.  We are commited to communicating it's timeless truths in a culturally relevant way so as to make it both understandable and applicable to daily living.

 God’s Empowering Presence

Cultivating an atmosphere that promotes and encourages people to find the empowering presence of God in their daily lives. This comes from practical application of biblical principles to daily life and increasing dependence on God as our source of strength. It is only through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit that we preach, teach, live, and love in the world around us.

 Real Spiritual Growth

Real spiritual growth is a journey of life transformation as we delve into the deeper things of God. Together we grow as we find the truth of God as it applies to life and living. Christianity is about living as followers (disciples) of Christ. This is a journey that will last us a lifetime.

 Building People

Every person is a special creation of God. Each person is a unique, unrepeatable miracle of His hand and He has a plan for their lives. Our ability to find real peace and joy in this world is directly proportional to our ability to follow the plan and purpose of God for our lives. The highest order of success in this world is to become all that God created us to be.  Our ministries are built around helping people find God's real purpose for their lives and then implementing that purpose into daily living.

 Real Worship

Cultivating a worship atmosphere that helps people find a real relationship with the living Christ. Programs, bands, music, preaching and meeting together are only tools to accomplish an end. The ultimate goal of all of our efforts should be to foster an atmosphere where every seeking soul encounters the living Christ. It’s not in our efforts but in the encounter with the living Christ that lives are transformed and people find wholeness.

 Empowering Leadership

Everything in an organization rises and falls on leadership. Empowering leadership is about helping people become the best that they are capable of being. Empowering leaders surround themselves with great people then spend their time training, equipping, and supporting those people to be their best. Empowering leaders realize that the product of our efforts is people not programs or projects. Regular meetings foster an atmosphere of care and accountability that are integral to this style of leadership. High expectations coupled with strategic planning and accountability help people rise to new levels of effectiveness and personal growth.

 Community Building

God’s desire is for the church to be the living breathing embodiment of His Spirit. A faith community is built when we learn to live with each other in real love and affection, giving preference to one another in the spirit of unity. In a community we never give up on people realizing that God’s redemptive purpose is for “you and your children and for all those who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” (Acts 2:39)

 Commitment to Kingdom Growth

Kingdom growth requires us to build intersections in our community where faith and need meet. Building opportunities for our faith community to touch the searching community with the love of Christ.  The church cannot afford to live in the false assumption that the world will come to us, we must take seriously our commitment to fulfill the great commission in the heart of the Great Commandment.

 Personal Responsibility

Helping people to understand that the only person who can keep me from being all that God wants me to be is me. Barriers and difficulties created by others may make the journey more difficult but God empowers us to become what He has called us to be. Personal responsibility is about teaching and equipping people to take control of their lives through the power of God. This requires training people in making better decisions, goal setting, and making plans for life that lead us to positive fruitful ends.

 Integrity

Fragmented lives where we live part of life in the secular and part in the sacred leaves us living lives of hypocrisy and discontent. Learning to live life as a whole with Christ at the head allows us to live with integrity in the world around us. This requires fostering a community where people understand that God is as interested in their marriages, work ethic, and community involvement as He is in their time at church.
