Community Outreach and Global Missions
Friends on a Mission actively supports the Hughesville community and beyond through targeted programs and partnerships, including our Faith Promise Campaign. Locally, volunteers engage with initiatives like High Power Soccer VBS and Operation Christmas Child to provide meaningful support and connection. Nationally, we contribute through the Kentucky Christian Appalachian Project, addressing needs in underserved areas. Internationally, mission trips to Jamaica and collaborations with missionaries in Nepal and Ukraine extend our reach, fostering lasting relationships and impactful service worldwide.
High Power Soccer VBS
Each August, during the first full week, the grounds of Friends Church burst into life with children from Pre-K through those entering 6th grade, engaging in soccer and learning about Jesus!
Operation Christmas Child
We collaborate with Operation Christmas Child to fill shoeboxes thanks to the generosity of our church body. Following that, we send a team to Baltimore to assist in packing these boxes for children in need across the globe. Each box is prayed over and accompanied by the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Kentucky Christian Applachian Project
Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) has helped generations of families in Appalachia who have struggled to build better lives and break free from the grasp of poverty. For those interested in a short-term missions trip within the U.S., trips are usually scheduled late spring or summer. This is a great trip for a family to serve on during summer break!
Samson & Priscilla Retnaraj
Samson and Priscilla Retnaraj are medical missionaries who focus on a simple strategy of equipping church leaders in Nepal to integrate Community Health Evangelism (CHE) as an intentional holistic disciple-making movement which includes evangelism, community development, and church planting. Friends Church has been privileged to host the Retnaraj family when they visit the states.
Jamaica Missions
Pastor Dan leads a team of Friends to the mission field in Jamaica yearly. They work side-by-side with locals to build churches, teach in schools, and provide materials and resources for Friends Church congregations in Jamaica to continue spreading the Gospel to their communities throughout the year.
Abe & Diane Bible
Abe and Diane Bible are American missionaries to Ukraine, where they have served since 1990 with a focus on training church leaders and establishing "Centers of Hope" to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to people, especially following the 2022 Russian invasion. Hosting the Bibles when they come to the area is a blessing to our church.
Faith Promise Campaign
A Faith Promise is a commitment to give something you may not currently have, trusting in God's provision. At Hughesville Friends Church, we believe in supporting missions that spread the hope and love of Jesus Christ. When you choose to participate in Faith Promise Giving, you are entering into a personal agreement with God to support our missionaries and programs.
